Sligo will welcome the magnificent Galeón Andalucía, the world’s largest replica Spanish galleon, for a special two-week visit from 30th June to 13th July 2026.
Weather permitting, the ship will sail into Sligo Harbour on 30th June, pausing offshore at Streedagh Beach to honour the site of the 1588 Spanish Armada shipwrecks and Sligo’s deep historical connection to this remarkable maritime story.
This unique visit will bring Sligo’s Spanish Armada heritage to life, offering visitors the chance to experience history in an unforgettable way.
Visitors will have the opportunity to step onboard for a self-guided tour, exploring the ship’s decks, cabins and maritime heritage. Suitable for all ages, this spectacular experience is expected to be a major highlight for families, cultural visitors, maritime enthusiasts and anyone interested in Sligo’s rich coastal history.
During the visit, Sligo’s Remembering the Armada Festival group will also launch its 2026 festival, further celebrating the county’s important connection to the Spanish Armada story.
